Fundraising in the First Degree

For the third year in a row, the Provincial Grand Master, RW. Bro Michael Wilks, supported by the

Deputy Provincial Grand Master, other members of the Provincial Cabinet and senior Hampshire masons presented the First Degree Lecture in support of the 2016 Festival, bringing the three year total for this popular initiative to over £113,000.

Totton Masonic Centre was full to capacity as Test Valley Lodge No. 6181 hosted an excellent and entertaining evening as winners of the 2013 Provincial Lecture Draw. On the night, the Worshipful

Master W Bro Philip Rowe, presented the PGM with a further cheque for £1,500 towards the 2016

Festival.

The success of the Charity Draw and the evening in particular once again proved that ‘fundraising

and fun’ can go hand in hand and everyone involved expressed their appreciation of what was both an extremely enjoyable occasion and solid support for the RMTGB.

The 2013 draw saw 41 lodges taking part raising a total of 31,634 in the year with 126 draw tickets having been purchased

Horndean Masonic Centre was full to capacity as the Lodge of Hope No. 2153 hosted an excellent and entertaining evening as winners of the 2012 Charity Lecture Draw. Once again, the winning lodge used this event as a vehicle for further fundraising activities; including a BBQ ‘meet and greet’, ‘Pickle Night’, Quiz Night, Race Night and a Christmas Carol Evening which were held in the weeks leading up to the main event. As a result, the Worshipful Master, W. Bro Peter Close presented the Provincial Grand Master with a further cheque for £2,500 in open lodge and an additional £380, from the proceeds of the raffle, at the festive board.

The success of the Charity Draw and the evening in particular once again proved that ‘fundraising and fun’ can go hand in hand and everyone involved expressed their appreciation of what was both an extremely enjoyable occasion and solid support for the 2016 Festival.

The lecture initiative has so far raised over £80,000 and this year, Lodges from across the Province purchased a total of 118 draw tickets at £250 each in aid of the 2016 Festival.

The Charity Lecture is fast becoming an annual event and a third charity draw is planned for 2013 when, it is hoped, many more lodges will participate helping to bring the fundraising total in excess of £100k.
